A lighthouse at the end of the world
At the sea to the west of the island of El Hierro, Orchilla Lighthouse was the location of the prime meridian until relatively recently. This iconic corner of the smallest of the Canary Islands is an entrance to the unknown. At Punta de la Orchilla and easily accessible by car, it is somewhere to visit because of: its skies, its orange sunsets and the peaceful surroundings.
Gazing at the starry sky at any time of year
The skies at Orchilla Lighthouse are perfect for fans of stargazing as there is no light pollution. You can see different constellations all year round, but the appearance of Taurus means the end of autumn.
