This lookout point is of recent creation within the framework of the Plan for Competitiveness in Tourism in the Canary Islands “A Volcanic Experience II”.
El Mirador de El Julan offers breathtaking panoramas over the hillside and steep cliffs that drop down into the Mar de Las Calmas. We can see incipient gullies with scarce vegetation and young sloping valleys with the volcanic land of La restinga in the background.
This area is of an intermediate volcanic age and composition. The foci of eruption played a significant mixed role in the second phase of this series, meaning that their products now form the surface layer of the slopes, burying and concealing the original profiles of islets, and thus, giving a completely unique landscape.
