Do you like the great outdoors and sleeping under the stars? Is your thing to be woken by the sound of birdsong? If the answer is yes, then we just know that La Hoya del Morcillo is going to thrill you. Deep in the heart of a pine forest, the campsite has everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. There is hot water on tap in the showers, an ample area for parking caravans with the battery points to plug into, an area for barbecues with firewood always available, a kids’ playground and even a free wi-fi zone for those who do not wish to disconnect completely from the rest of the world. If your thing is more hiking and not moving about on wheels, but you don’t like sleeping outdoors, all you have to do is get in touch with the environment section of the local island Council or Cabildo (Medio Ambiente) and we have two log cabins that you can camp out in. And if your idea of enjoyment is sleeping rough, then all you have to do, unless you are a really large group, is ask the Environmental guard in the recreational area where you can put your tent and he will tell you. You also pay direct to the selfsame guard, 4.32€ per person and day. If you like hiking, there are various trails that kick off from El Morcillo, giving you a chance to get to know the island and enjoy all of its treasures.

For all further information, please contact the Environment office of the Island Council (Medio Ambiente del Cabildo Insular) on 922 550 017 or by e-mail at hoyamorcillo@el-hierro.org

We hope you enjoy your stay on the island and know that you’ll be back.
